222.

I baked homemade blueberry and chocolate-chip muffins and granola for the Wesley directors one morning of intern training. I never made from scratch muffins before, and I was really pleased with how they turned out.

220.

I traveled down to Columbus for one of Laura Anne's wedding showers that was hosted by her sweet sister. I really enjoyed the opportunity to meet and spend time with her family and friends, and of course, with her! Her wedding is NEXT weekend! Yes!
I also practiced more with my camera. I got some shots on the point-and-shoot, but those'll be on facebook.

#217. Hello, grasshopper.

After praying for a really long time, I was suddenly blessed with the opportunity to acquire a dSLR camera. To say I'm super-excited about it would be a pretty big understatement. I am committed to learning how to use it, and use it well. That being said, I don't use the automatic functions and am learning how to do everything manually. THAT being said, I have a LOT of bad pictures. The poor pictures are spurring me to learn faster though. I'm fortunate have a couple of wise photographers I'm able to ask questions to and bounce ideas off.
The above picture was taken the first day I started to really play with it. I was cleaning at home and saw this grasshopper on the window and wanted to play with focusing. It was a brief break!

SO MUCH SUMMER!

As hard as this summer was, I just REALLY love summer! And in two months you'll hear I LOVE fall! And in like 8 months it'll be I LOVE spring! I just really enjoy the season while in it (for the most part. Winter IS missing from the list above. But I am going to learn to love it this year).

What marked this summer the most was weddings. There were so many weddings. And wedding showers. And wedding events. I love weddings, so that was a pretty high mark of the summer. The majority of the pics above are from them.

There are also a number of food pictures above...I do what I love. I made my first (and ultra-tasty) german chocolate cake for my future roommates birthday dinner. It. was. awesome. I also made over 100 homemade sugar cookies for Link one night (too-much? yes. that a problem? no.) The sugar cookie baking resulted in the one pic on the left of me wearing a white belt...but that's not a belt. It's flour. I just forgot to put on an apron while I was baking.

Also making an appearance twice on the collage is my friend Jennie. We hung out one morning in the summer and she mentioned how this job at AFUMC was opening and that I should apply. I did. I'm employed there now. And I'm really thankful. And one night we had a mini-DT reunion (Sarah, you were missed!).

Speaking of the job there are a few pics up there from it...my mac (!!!!) covered in to-do lists (it's how I roll), and the tri-fold display board I made for a ministry fair (hello, science fair). And the salsa jar with a sheet of paper on the bottom? The office had a slight fruit fly problem for a few weeks and the internet (clearly the most reliable source of information) said that that was how one should catch them. It worked surprisingly well!

There are a couple mishap pictures up there too. The water hose picture on the top left was when common-sense abandoned me while I was trying to water plants one night...dis.as.ter. And the picture of the back of my head? My pitiful attempt at braiding.

And a couple closing comments...one of the first nights at Link I showed up and Sarah K. and I were wearing the same dress-fun! And the picture near the bottom of the blue sky? That's LIGHTENING! I was pumped. I have a new camera now (more on that to come), and I'm looking forward to getting more and better lightening shots.

iPhone summer wrap-up.

As I have been putting together these collages to do a summer 365 wrap up, I realized I really MISSED posting this project regularly this summer. I have fun doing this. Putting these collages together made me remember a lot of fun moments from the summer that I had forgotten. And life has changed A LOT since May 2010. I have a new job, a new home (in the works, see painting picture below)... as subsequent posts will show, there's a lot of new these days.
This collage is all images that I took on my iPhone because of A) not having a camera around or, B) being too lethargic to go get the camera.

In the top row is the first piece of furniture that I ever bought for myself, and the tastiest chocolate cake I've ever made (if you request a chocolate cake from me, it'll be this recipe). The big bruise? From getting out of bed. Pathetic? Yes. Obvious? Yes. I had to dodge some questions for a few weeks.

The little dead snake? Fished out of a pool while swimming with Nutan. I had saw it and thought, "oh, it's nothing. Just a spring or something." ?!?!?! Clearly animal identification is not one of my strong suits...

Speaking of Nutan...her and I in GAP. Yes, trying on the same dress. And yes, ultimately buying the same dress. But since we live in different cities, and I wear dresses almost everyday ending in "y" and she doesn't, it's okay.

The short-shorts? I was shorts-shopping with a certain soap-maker in Athens and I had to talk her out of these (just kidding).

The BIG snake in the bottom left? That was one of TWO that was in the garage of a house that I was house-sitting at this summer. And no, I did not get cats (picture above it). Those were some pet-sitting charges. I'm thankful they're declawed.

The steeple-picture and blue office are pictures from my NEW job at Athens First UMC downtown!
I. love. my. job.
More posts to come about it, no doubt. A drawback to working downtown is that I now eat downtown a lot, and am now a 3 minute walk from a Starbucks (and hence the double-fisting picture from Starbucks one day).

And the flowers...

This summer I definitely went on a summer flower kick--I knew that I would want flower pics for home decor, for use in gifts, et cetera. And frequently, when in need of a quick pic for the 365 project I'd go outside to get a pic of one.
